Develop the observation skills that allow you to understand posture, balance and compensation patterns before they become problems. Join the Founding Cohort Most riders are taught what to do, but very few are taught what to see. The ability to recognise posture changes, compensation patterns, and subtle signs of dysfunction is one of the most important skills a horse owner can develop. Without this skill it’s easy to miss the early warning signs that something in the horse’s body isn’t right

About Tara Osborn

Tara Osborn is the founder of Long Drove Holistic Horse Training and specialises in helping horse owners understand the relationship between posture, movement, and long-term soundness.

Her work focuses on functional movement, musculoskeletal balance, and the compensation patterns that develop when a horse’s body is not working optimally. Through years of working closely with horses in training and rehabilitation, Tara has developed a strong ability to recognise the subtle signs that reveal how a horse is truly functioning.

A core part of Tara’s work involves posture and movement assessments, analysing how horses stand, move, and load their bodies in order to identify the patterns that often precede injury, tension, or performance issues.

What makes her approach different is her ability to translate complex biomechanical concepts into clear, practical observations that horse owners can understand and apply.

Rather than overwhelming people with complicated theory, Tara focuses on training the eye — helping owners recognise the key indicators that reveal what is happening within the horse’s body.

Through her teaching, Tara guides riders and horse owners to develop a deeper awareness of:

• posture and alignment
• loading patterns
• compensation strategies
• early warning signs of dysfunction

This observational skill is one of the most valuable tools a horse owner can develop, allowing them to make better decisions about training, management, and rehabilitation.

Train Your Eye has been designed to share these insights in a way that is accessible, practical, and immediately useful for horse owners who want to better understand their horses.
