How to Read Your Horse’s Body – Part 3
Understanding the Spine, Thoracic Region & Carrying Capacity For A Rider
Live Webinar: 2nd April, 7:30pm (UK time)
Price: £15
Replay available for 14 days

This is the final webinar in the “How to Read Your Horse’s Body” series, bringing together everything discussed in Parts 1 and 2 and applying it to the most central and influential part of the horse’s body – the spine and thoracic region.

The middle of the horse is where everything connects. It is the point where the front end and the hind end meet and communicate, and understanding how this area functions is essential if we want horses to move well, develop strength correctly, and carry a rider comfortably.

In this webinar, we will explore how the function (or dysfunction) of the front end and hind end directly influences the spine, and how problems elsewhere in the body often show up here first.

We will also discuss how issues can sometimes originate within the spine itself, which can then create compensations in both the front and hind limbs.

In this webinar you will learn:

• How to recognise healthy function and strength in the horse’s back
• What true carrying capacity looks like when a horse supports a rider correctly
• How dysfunction in the front end or hind end affects the spine
• The role and importance of the thoracic sling
• How problems in the thoracic region impact posture, balance, and movement
• Signs to look for that may indicate weakness, compensation, or restriction in the back
• Why the spine is often the central link in the chain of movement
• Discussion of kissing spines, including how and why this condition can develop

By the end of this session, you will have a much clearer understanding of how the middle of the horse functions biomechanically, and how to recognise when that function is compromised.

Important

This webinar builds on the concepts discussed in Part 1 and Part 2 of the series. These webinars will be referred to during the session.

If you have not yet watched them, they are still available to purchase separately and will help provide valuable context for this final part of the series.
